After experiencing profound loss, a Bay Village, Ohio, homeowner worked with House of L Designs to create a joyful, family-centered home designed around the way she lives today. The 3,400-square-foot residence features a warm, colorful kitchen with custom cabinetry, thoughtful functionality, and Calia Stone countertops and backsplash that bring dramatic natural stone veining and timeless luxury to the space. Throughout the home, rich textures, bold color, and personalized details create inviting spaces designed for cooking, entertaining, and gathering with children and grandchildren. Featured in House Beautiful, the project showcases how luxury natural stone and thoughtful interior design can transform a home into a deeply personal and welcoming retreat.

Forward Momentum

Grief shapes people in different ways. Libby Palmieri Schwartz of House of L Designs was working with a client several years ago when the project was interrupted by the sudden loss of the homeowner’s 52-year-old husband. Her client ultimately decided to complete the nearly 5,000-square-foot home the couple had planned, propelled more by momentum than a clear vision for her future there. Eventually, she sold that home and began building again.

“She wanted it to feel like her comfort zone, her space, her cocoon from the world.” Libby Palmieri Schwartz
