Women Leaders

Kristin Schloemer set out to change the dynamics of the natural stone business — aiming both to bring a sense of charm to the industry and to be one of the few women represented in it. Her company, Calia Stone, specializes in quartzite, marble, onyx, and specialty stones, and operates at the first point of contact for new homes or renovation projects, providing materials best suited to each setting.

Schloemer entered the industry with a desire to push boundaries. Her approach is rooted in reverence: for nature, for design, and for the clients who walk through Calia’s doors with dreams of transforming their spaces. While Kristin acknowledges the industry remains male-dominated, she doesn’t see that as a limitation.

Her advice to women entering the field? “Do it! Keep your head down, stay in your lane, and truly understand the craftsmanship behind every slab. These are nature’s works of art — there’s nothing commoditized about that.”
